Birch Bay is unincorporated, which means the housing was not built to one plan or in one decade, and the drains reflect that.

What everything here shares is the ground. This is a shoreline, and the water table sits close to the surface for most of the year. Lines were often laid shallow because there was no reason to go deeper, and shallow pipe in wet ground is exposed to two things at once: groundwater pressing in at any joint that has opened, and less cover protecting it from anything driving or building above it.
Add the seasonal pattern on top. A large share of these properties are holiday homes and rentals. Lines sit unused for months, dry down, then take a full house on a summer weekend. Between the shallow wet ground and the stop start usage, Birch Bay produces a particular kind of call: a line that has been quietly deteriorating and a weekend that finds out.

Why a high water table changes the job
A sewer line is designed to carry what you put into it. It is not designed to carry the groundwater around it.
When the water table is high and a joint has opened or a section has cracked, water comes in continuously. The pipe runs partly full all the time, so it never gets the surge it needs to move solids properly. Material settles. The line silts up from the bottom. Then a busy weekend arrives and there is no spare capacity left at all.
That is why the seasonal pattern here is misleading. It looks like the problem is the number of people in the house, and it usually is not. The house is simply the last straw on a line that has been running half full since November.
The diagnosis is a camera run, and around Birch Bay we are specifically looking for infiltration: water entering where it should not be. Once the entry point is located, the repair is usually short, and it is genuinely worth doing rather than clearing the same line every summer.
Shallow bury depth matters for a second reason. It puts the pipe within reach of vehicle loads, landscaping and root systems that would never trouble a line at proper depth, so on this ground we treat any settlement above the run as worth investigating.

Why do my drains only give trouble in summer?
Because the demand arrives all at once on a line that has usually been struggling quietly since winter. Groundwater infiltration keeps the pipe running partly full for months, then a full house asks for capacity that is not there. The summer is when it shows, not when it starts.
Do you work on manufactured homes?
Yes. The plumbing and the connection to the sewer or septic are different from a stick built house, and access is often tighter, so it is worth telling us what you have when you call.
Can a sewer line be repaired with the water table this high?
Yes, and it is common work here, but groundwater does set the pace. Excavation in saturated ground usually needs dewatering, and that is part of the scope and the timeline rather than a surprise partway through.
